Winter Wanderings

We headed to the California desert in early December and spent a little over three months enjoying the mostly lovely weather. We did get a bit of rain and high winds at times, which is not unusual. Not so typical is the 4.9 earthquake we experienced in January. We were sitting outside the RV at the time. It was a bit disconcerting to see our motor home rocking back and forth after the quake's jolt. We laughed about it and then realized that smarter people would have moved away from the RV in case it toppled over.

The Desert, Ugly Dog Show Attire, Pickleball, and an Angry Porcupine

This season we decided to relax for three months at the Coachella Lakes RV Resort in the California desert. The weather has mostly been in the 70s and 80s and we are loving donning shorts and t-shirts every day. The park is brand new and offers many amenities including pickleball courts, an 18-hole putting green, and two swimming pools.

Winding Down Our Stay with Flowers, Wine, and Dance

You can certainly tell we've headed into Fall both by the waning number of visitors to the light station and the change in weather. A few days after the big July 4th weekend, Cliff started feeling like his allergies were acting up. Turns out, it was COVID. Bummer. Then about four days later, Anne Marie felt a tickle in her throat. Damn. Several weeks of feeling like crap later, we were back in action and ready to continue to experience the area's food, wine, and more.

Moving On

Around the second week of February, Wi-Fi support work began to diminish at the resort, mostly because the mass influx of people into the park happened primarily in January. Since there were four of us on the team, we decided to exit a month earlier than planned so we could give our hours to the other two team members. And that was A-Okay with us. We felt like it was more than time to move on. We were asked if we'd like to return next season and politely declined. On to other adventures.
