Driving onto the Ferry
Our First View of the Island
Family Photo
After three long driving days up I-5, we made it to Steilacoom (pronounced Still-a-come) on Thursday in time to catch the 9:30AM ferry to Anderson Island (AI). It was a fairly straightforward loading process and we were soon on our way across the water.
Loaded Up and Ready to Go
John Larsen, from the AI Parks & Recreation District, met us at the ferry terminal and we followed him to Lowell Johnson Park, our home for the summer. Our RV site is nestled in the trees where we can see glimpses of Florence Lake.
Our Home for the Summer
Once we were parked, hooked up, and settled in, John took us on a tour of the island. It is beautiful. We were greeted warmly by several of the islanders and other park staff.
Today we took the pups to a huge dog park just down the road so they could burn off some energy, checked out the local market, and rested before our first big weekend as Senior Vice President of Gate Operations (that's Cliff) and CEO (that's Anne Marie telling Cliff what to do and how to do it). :-)

You should be the CGO
Make sure you keep all those visitors in line. Sick the dogs on them.
I will give it 2 weeks before you’re board out if your minds.,,
I don’t know about that. We’ve had many years to ease into retirement. You, on the other hand, are about to go through an identity crisis. 😉
You look settled in! The dog park sounds awesome and it sure looks and sounds wonderful there.
I’m so jealous!
Looks like a great setting. Thanks for sharing! Hope it’ll be great fun, and glad we get to follow along. Thanks!
Let us know if we can help with anything at your home here. We’ll be here until July 9, at least. Then we hope to head to the coast, too.
Thank you!
Wow, you have so much space at your site. Loved the ferry boat pic. The RV was nestled in like a sleeping giant. Have fun swinging on the gate.🤪
Beautiful setting. I'm sure driving onto the ferry was a white knuckle event:)
Updates? Goofy stories?
