Hi ho, hi ho...
Entrance to the Park
...it's off to work we go. Our first weekend as park hosts was fairly uneventful. On Saturday, we donned our uniforms, opened the gate, greeted visitors as they entered the park, and kept track of cars in the parking lot. Everyone was friendly and happy to be enjoying the beautiful day, picnicking, playing volleyball, swimming, and fishing. Sunday and Monday were fairly quiet as the air was chilly until the sun made its appearance later in the day. At the end of each day, we closed the gate and retired to our motor home to rest our weary bodies. It's a tough job, but we are soldiering through.

Catting Around
At one point over the weekend a man knocked on our motor home door. He said he noticed signs that dogs were not allowed in the park but wondered if cats were. Huh. Didn't expect that. He wanted to walk his cats down by the lake. He said they were "adventure cats" and showed Cliff pics of his intrepid felines on his phone. Cliff politely looked at the photos and told the guy that it was best to keep his cats in the car because if they were to defecate, it could introduce bacteria and parasites into the water. The man was good-natured about it and left the park for more welcoming, uh, sand? We found out later that adventure cats are a thing. Adventure cats, apparently, accompany their owners on outdoor excursions. Who knew? The man, Jory, had been all over the island with his cats whose names, by the way, are...Lewis and Clark.

Off Island
Today we headed to nearby Tacoma to do some errands and get supplies and groceries. You cannot be in a hurry to get to the mainland. We lined up to board the ferry at 8 AM and ended up missing the one we intended to take because many others had the same plan, apparently. We waited about an hour for the next one. No big deal. Once we disembarked, we hit the Walmart and then found a very good sushi place inside an Asian marketplace.
Tonight we cooked up a salmon dinner and enjoyed it with an amazing Wrath Pinot Noir from the Santa Lucia wine region. Salut!

Nice blog. Adventure cats, who knew! Nice to have the time when you miss the bus there is no rush. Another poetic moment.
Would not surprise me if there are also adventure chickens, adventure lizards, adventure snakes. Beautiful trail!
